What is Salvation through Jesus Christ?

We believe that we become a born again Christian by confessing our sins to God and believing upon Jesus Christ as the Son of God who died for our sins on the cross. Believers will desire to be baptised as an outward sign of their true conversion to God and make restitution for the things they have done wrong.

What is Holiness through Jesus Christ?

We believe that we are instantly sanctified (made clean) by the blood of Jesus when we ask the Lord to cleanse us from our original sin that came from Adam. This experience removes from us a desire to live in a lifestyle of sin, but there will also be an on-going work of cleansing by the Word of God that will continue to remove sinful habits.

What is Baptism with the Holy Spirit?

We believe the Lord promised us a Comforter or Helper that He called the Holy Spirit. This gift of the Holy Spirit (or Holy Ghost) comes upon every believer who will seek the Lord for this power. Speaking in Tongues or other spiritual manifistations will always accompany the coming of this power into the life of those who receive Him.

What are Gifts and Callings Bestowed through Christ?

We believe that every believer is given unique gifts or talents by the Lord to use for the work of the kingdom and helping bring unity or strength to the Body of Believers. These grace gifts (Romans 12) must not be confused with the nine spiritual gifts (I Cor. 12) placed in the church to encourage and guide us as a body of believers.

What is the Lordship of Christ?

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Lord of our lives and should be seen in how we daily seek to live out our faith through prayer, thanksgiving, study of the Word, giving, and tithing. His Lordship is also seen in our continuing desire to practice regular acts of worship that evidence this servanthood; such as, communion, church attendance, etc.

What is the Second Coming of Christ?

We believe that Jesus bodily resurrected and ascended to the Father in Heaven and will return in the rapture to resurrect all true believers in Christ. This will occur before the events known as the Great Tribulation and the Millenial Reign of Christ on earth. We believe there is a literal Heaven where believers will live eternelly and a literal Hell where unrepentant sinners will eternally suffer for their unbelief.

What are Marriage and Family Values?

We continue to believe in the holy state of marriage as alife-time commitment and that divorce is destructive to the family. The Bible teaches that sexual relations are preserved for lawful matrimony and that premarital sex, adultery, homosexuality, lesbianism, and other such lifestyles are contrary to creation. Abortion and Euthanasia are also seen in scripture as departures from God's high value placed upon every single living soul.

What are Friendships (Relationships) in Christ?

We believe that every human was made to be a creature that needed the friendship and bonding necessary to exhibit the love of God. We want to help each believer learn to build long and lasting relationships within their family and with other believers.

What is the Body of Christ?

We believe that every believer needs the fellowship, discipline, and government that a good biblical church provides for their life. Each child of God is taught the importance of unity among believers and the need of common faith and commitment to God. We also believe that we are part of a universal church that encompasses more than this local group of people, but includes like-minded believers throughout the entire world.

What is Our Vision for this Body?

The Lynnhaven Church of God of Prophecy has a vision for what we are and why we exist as a church in this community. Each member of this body learns to share a mutual understanding of how they can be a part of our mission to reach our neighbors for Christ. We believe we have a divine purpose and godly assignment to share the love of the Father.
